AUDITION CALL: Edinburgh Days Amateur Community Production
Bob Tomson, the internationally acclaimed director of the musicals ‘BLOOD BROTHERS’, ‘GHOST THE MUSICAL’, ‘EVITA’, ‘JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR’, ‘SCROOGE’ and ‘DREAMBOATS AND PETTICOATS’ has partnered up with the ST BRIDE’s CENTRE, Dalry to mount Brian Spence’s Scottish Musical ‘EDINBURGH DAYS’ again at the Fringe Festival 2026.
Caroline Inglis (the director) and Brian (composer, musical director) are giving their talents for free to this project, and we are looking for like-minded and spirited members from our talented theatre community to come and hopefully join them. The production opens August 5th and runs till the 31st, with rest days on Mondays.
We're seeking an exceptional company of 26 performers for our 2026 Edinburgh Fringe run of Edinburgh Days.
About The Show: After a successful 2025 debut with multiple 4-star reviews, we're returning with higher ambitions – we're aiming for 5 stars. This means we need a cast that's committed to excellence, ready to rehearse rigorously, and passionate about creating something truly special.

We're casting: LEADING CHARACTERS (rehearsing weekends from 11thJuly and then full time from July 18th to Aug 4th)
MacGregor – a chancer and rogue, ageing from 30 to 50, who craves after
Jean – originally from Skye, ageing from 25 to 45, resourceful, betrothed to
Robbie – a naval rating, later petty officer, ageing from 25 to 45, father to
David – a young gadabout, charmer, ageing from 18 to 30, who much fancies
Catriona – a feisty one, ageing from 18 to 30, under the thumb of her father
Dunoon – a bailiff and lay preacher, ageing from 30 to 50, disdainful of
Mary – a harlot, Jean’s only friend, and one-time lover of MacGregor, ageing 30-50.
ENSEMBLE COMPANY CHARACTERS There will also be casting opportunities for a whole host of colourful speaking/singer characters who populate this epic musical: a hard-headed tavern landlady, sassy mothers from the closes, sailors’ sweethearts, teenage hairies, salty seamen, press-gangsters, a naval bosun, young bucks, old drunks, worshippers at the kirk, and all sorts in between… we are also looking for a 10 year old boy, 10 year old girl and 6 year old boy. (rehearsing from July 18thst to Aug 4th)
Once we are into the run of the show you will only be expected to turn up for pre-show warm ups for each show at 6.30pm.
